Come join us for our Annual George Barnette Community Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thanksgiving Day.

With enough volunteers pitching in, we’ll lay out a real feast from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Thanksgiving Day. We’re expecting a couple hundred of your friends and neighbors to join us for Johnson City’s premier pig-out. As usual, we’ll do seconds,       to-go plates, and doggie bags. If you don’t leave waddling, it’s your own fault.

Harvest House is generously donating the turkeys and Proof n Cooper is smoking all      of them! Other dishes that have been spoken for are green beans (Pecan Street), dressing, and mash potatoes.But we still need you to bring some of your favorite sides, meats (other than turkey), bread, and/or desserts to help share in the spread. Thanks to you, we’ve never run out.

Not only is it a good chance to celebrate the holiday with your friends, it’s a good place to feed your family. There’s no charge, of course, so the more you bring the better the company.

It’s also a cure for the Grandma Holiday Blues…you know…when all the kids and grandkids say, “Let’s go to grandma’s house for Thanksgiving!”, expecting         grandma to spend all morning in the kitchen cooking and then all afternoon in there cleaning up, while the rest of the family watches football on TV or takes naps, sometimes at the same time. Better idea is to bring ‘em all to the church, where you can let them get full and then go home without feeling exhausted.

The people who make it work, are the volunteers, who do the decorating, cooking, serving, and cleaning up afterward. Sounds like a lot of work — and it is — but spread over a bunch of people, it’s not a hardship on anyone.

Come join us for a live performance of The Greatest Story Ever Told!  We welcome you to join us on Friday or Saturday night of the first two weekends in December (the 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th), with five performances per night (at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00pm).  Come see us and enjoy a cool Hill Country evening at the Pavilion next to the FMC Activity Center, and have coffee, hot chocolate, cookies, and a big display of Living Nativity sets from around the world!
